The last few weeks have brought many people new and unexpected challenges. The changes in the last few weeks feel almost unreal, we are confronted on a daily basis with warnings, concerns and just sheer heartache.
Sometimes I look back with amazement at how quickly our seemingly safe and secure world has changed.
It feels as if we were living with a sense of being untouchable which has now been blown away by the swirling storm of the corona virus. How did we get to this? Can we adapt to the changes that occur in our immediate and less immediate environment?
I feel a sense of despair that we have pushed our beautiful planet to this point, yet also hope and inspiration by the resilience of people pulling together to look after others and adapt their habits to cope with being indoors most of the time and working in challenging situations. I work mainly from home but admit I miss my friends and fellow yogi’s from the yoga studio immensely.
I wonder what will happen after this has passed – and I am trusting that this will pass. I’m hoping that we do not fall into complacency, yet rebuild with a greater respect for each other and most importantly this beautiful planet.
There are a lot of messages flying around on social media that this is a reset moment for the planet as airlines stop flying and industry slows. How will we use this? Will we take this as a moment to stop and pause and consider how we can move forwards? Will the cleaner air be the wake-up call that we do need to pay more attention to the planet? Will this be the moment that pushes us to address our often flippant disregard of the planet’s resources?
I live in hope and believe that we have a lot of good in ourselves which we will channel to good use, living in a more compassionate way and more in tune with nature.
