When I first started on my zero-waste journey – and I’m still working on it – I decided first to reduce the amount of plastic in my life.
The tips in the below link are similar to those I chose for myself at the time. It took a few weeks but then I found that I had reduced my plastic waste from one carrier bag’s worth per week to a smallish bag every 2-3 weeks. There’s for sure work to be done but this proves that with some small effort, we can make some impact.
My key savings have been using soap and shampoo bars instead of shower gel and liquid shampoo, taking small reusable bags with me for bagging up loose produce at the supermarket and deliberately avoiding items already wrapped in plastics. For example: loose fruit instead of pre-packaged, glass jars of olives instead of those in plastic tubs, ditching juice shots. I also made myself a waxed cloth wrap which doesn’t look great but seems to work ok (no food poisoning as yet)…
My suggestion is to give these tips a go.
