I watched a beautiful film yesterday about Krishna Das .. One Track Heart.
The film covered the period from when he was in a band and experimenting in the US, through his meetings with Neem Karoli Baba in India and his further life singing kirtan. For some reason – and I have never been able to lay my finger on exactly why – I have always found his voice, rhythm and energy both energising and calming at the same time. I listen to him sometimes while practising yoga and also while working. Sometimes I can just sit and feel goosebumps on my skin. The film reminded me of my time in India and people I have met in the past, some of whom drifted briefly in and out of my life and yet made lasting impressions.
