Yesterday was an exciting day.. I was given the opportunity to give a presentation on yoga, including a short practice, at a conference. It’s kind of tricky sometimes to summarise yoga – there are so many aspects of yoga.
I find the history and philosophy fascinating too, wondering how people really experienced their yoga practice 2500 years ago… did they share the same fears and hopes? the same challenges..
While preparing for the conference, I also came back again and again to what yoga has given me and how I like to be able to share this with others. And again I return in my thoughts to how it feels to step on to my mat after a busy day – sometimes feeling guilty for taking time for myself, sometimes feeling some intrepidation – and then feeling how, after a couple of sun salutations, the tension and ‘monkey mind’ starts to recede and an overwhelming sense of calm kicks in. There is a sense of coming back home to the body.
